On Thursday, June 15, 2006, our House of Representatives staged a sham debate on the Iraq war. Majority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) had said he “hopes to match the serious, dignified tone of deliberation that preceded the Gulf war, in 1991.
But ... a Confidential Messaging Memo from Boehner told Republicans to politicize the debate in exactly the way that they did:
Can't we do better?
Shouldn't a debate about Iraq ... be about Iraq?
